Predicting a Bold Celtic Starting XI v Manchester City

Brendan Rodgers may decide to be bold in Celtic’s final European game of the season against Manchester City tonight – particularly after the weekend’s 4-3 win over Motherwell.

The Hoops boss and his side are heading out of the Champions League after taking just one point from their five games so far and too far away from the other three group teams to achieve knockout stage qualification or a Europa League place.

So Rodgers may see the trip to City as the ideal time to test out a formation he’s experimented with at stages throughout his tenure as boss already.

Take Saturday’s enthralling 4-3 win against Motherwell as an example.

Rodgers set Celtic up in a 4-3-3 to begin with, but quickly changed with the substitution of left back Emilio Izaguirre and introduction of Callum McGregor.

As the Hoops chased a way back into the game at 2-0 down, McGregor stepped up to become another midfielder while Jozo Simunovic, Kolo Toure and Mikael Lustig formed a back three.

Erik Sviatchenko is back fit and should come back into the side ahead of Toure.

So if Rodgers decides to be bold in Manchester tonight – then this would be the Celtic selection of choice to do it:

What’s your view – should Rodgers name this team against City tonight?
