Emotions were running high in El Clasico last night, just as expected.
Real Madrid snatched a dramatic late equaliser through a Sergio Ramos header in the 90th minute.
The goal denied Barcelona all three points and the chance to cut the gap at the top of La Liga to just three points.
But it’s another Madrid star who is grabbing the headlines in the wake of the derby.
Dani Carvajal infuriated rival fans with his part in the Madrid goal celebrations – after he aimed an offensive gesture at them as tempers boiled over at the Nou Camp.
And the defender has since apologised to Barca fans for aiming the middle finger at them as he hailed team-mate Ramos after his equalising goal.
Goal.com reports that Carvajal’s latest tweet was an attempt to smooth things over with the Barcelona support – but say that his reason for the gesture was that it came in response to abuse he suffered at the hands of the home crowd.
Me gustaría pedir disculpas por el gesto a un sector de la grada respondiendo a lo insultos. Es algo que no se debería hacer.

The reaction from raging Barca fans prompted a counter-attack from Madrid supporters who were quick to point out that this incident isn’t the first of its kind.
They quickly flagged up images if Barca defender Jordi Alba making the same gesture in a previous Clasico match:
For those still trying to give a lesson on 'values' over Carvajal…. Sit down. pic.twitter.com/8d2eyh0kqn
