If you believe everything you read in the media, Swedish defender Victor Lindelof is on the brink of moving to Manchester United, and when you look at things closely, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out which number he’ll wear.
It has been widely reported that the Benfica centre-back will complete a big-money transfer to Old Trafford when the January transfer window opens next month, with a mammoth fee as high as £42 million mentioned for the 23-year-old.
However, Lindelof’s usual squad number for the Portuguese side – as well as his national side – is 14, which he chose to wear specifically during Euro 2016 last summer.
But Jesse Lingard currently wears 14, and has done since Jose Mourinho arrived at the club.
However, the No.2 jersey is still available, and aside from his beloved 14, Lindelof has been seen wearing the No.2 for Sweden.
Of course, we have absolutely no idea if he’ll definitely take No.2 – he could shock us all by taking number 56 – but it’s as good an insight we can offer you at this point.
