Video: Uruguayan Football Match Abandoned After Mass Brawl On The Pitch

A shocking video has emerged of a mass brawl at a football match in Uruguay.

The footage was reportedly captured during a fourth tier match between Conventos and Boca Junior.

What caused it?

The furious bust-up appeared to be sparked by a controversial refereeing decision.

As players from both sides surround the official, one player lands a nasty headbutt on an opponent to kick off the rammy on the pitch.

Almost every player can be seen throwing punches, kicking and running at each other in a fit of rage.

Needless to say the match was abandoned.

Several players were left injured and one even had to be taken to hospital by ambulance wearing a neck brace.

You can check out the crazy scenes in the video below:

Going out fighting

Both sides clearly keen to end 2016 in fighting style.

But we’re hoping we don’t see similar scenes during Saturday’s Old Firm showdown between Celtic and Rangers at Ibrox.

The fixture has caused much controversy due to the match being played on New Year’s Eve.

Police Scotland have warned both sets of fans over their conduct at the Hogmanay clash.

And they’ve even banned Hoops fans from wearing hard hats in a bid to noise up Gers fans over their stadium roof problems.
