West Ham’s Dimitri Payet Ties With Real Madrid’s Toni Kross in Ballon d’Or Standings

West Ham midfielder Dimitri Payet has finished in 17th place in this year’s Ballon d’Or standings – tied with Real Madrid pair Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

The France midfielder hasn’t enjoyed the greatest start to this season but his form from the last campaign seems to have stood him in good stead with the international captains and managers who vote, as well as accredited journalists.

The 29-year-old was at the heart of West Ham’s impressive seventh place finish in the Premier League last season, having scored several stunning goals and laid on various impressive assists.

According to France Football and UEFA, Payet’s effort have seen him finish on a par with World Cup winner Kroos, and his Los Blancos team-mate Modric, both of whom are rated as two of the best midfielders on the planet.

But does Payet deserve such high praise? Is he really amongst that calibre of player? And if so, how long will he remain at West Ham for?
