A Lot of Man Utd Fans Are Very Keen on Wayne Rooney Getting a Statue

Wayne Rooney ended months of waiting on Saturday when he finally became Manchester United’s all-time top-scorer – and now there’s a growing number of fans who seem keen on the England captain being granted a statue outside Old Trafford.

The 31-year-old rescued a point for United in the final minute against Stoke City in the sides’ 1-1 draw at the Bet365 Stadium with a simply stunning free-kick, taking him to 250 competitive goals for the Red Devils, and putting him out in-front of Sir Bobby Charlton on 249.

Rooney breaks Charlton’s record after it stood for 44 long years, and he is also England’s all-time top-scorer too – so does he deserve to be regarded as a bona fide legend?

After all, Charlton, Dennis Law and George Best all have their own ‘Holy Trinity’ statue, so why shouldn’t Rooney?

The consensus online seems to be pretty overwhelming, eh? But does Wazza really deserve such a remarkable tribute?

What about the likes of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes? Don’t they deserve some sort of recognition before Rooney?
