Andres Iniesta Personally Calls Real Madrid Player to Apologise For Snub

Andres Iniesta has been strengthening his reputation as Spanish football’s ultimate nice guy this week, after it emerged the Barcelona midfielder has been ringing players at bitter rivals Real Madrid.

The World Cup winner and his star-studded Barca team-mates were criticised this week after snubbing FIFA’s ‘The Best’ awards, in which Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo was once again crowned the world’s best player.

No Barcelona players attended Monday’s ceremony in Zurich, claiming they were preparing for tonight’s Copa Del Rey clash with Athetic Bilbao, but Ronaldo couldn’t resist having a dig at his Catalan counterparts.

However, according to Spanish newspaper Marca, Iniesta wanted to apologised to several Real players for the no-show, and went out of his way to personally phone several of the Los Blancos roster.

Regardless of who he plays for or how much he’s won, there is absolutely no doubting how much of a class act Iniesta is.

Well played, Andres. Well played.

In this week’s show, Daniel is joined by team members Jonny Boyle, Connor Boylan and Scott MacArthur as they bring you a Mc25 special.
We released our list of the top 25 players in Scotland over 2016 on Monday and followed it up with this comprehensive podcast to discuss who we selected, where we selected them and why we selected them:
