Mamadou Sakho has teased that he might be on his way out of Liverpool during the January transfer window.
The French defender hasn’t kicked a ball for the club since April when he started in a 4-0 win over Everton.
But soon after that game, UEFA launched an investigation into Sakho for allegedly violating an anti-doping rule before handing him a 30-day ban.
Sakho was made available for selection when that ban expired and the substance was found not to be on UEFA’s banned list, but he was back out of the picture when sent home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the US for failing to respect squad rules set out by Jurgen Klopp.
And he hasn’t been near the first team since – with a move away in January appearing likely now.
Sakho has added to the speculation, posting to Facebook today to say that he’ll be back on the pitch soon before adding a load of flags to the caption – which must be the countries he’s considering moving to:
So that’s France, Spain, Belgium, Italy, Russia, Turkey, Australia, China or Germany – a lot of strong options for Sakho. And none in England it appears.
The French defender will leave Liverpool after making 80 appearances for the club, but without helping them to any major trophies.
