In 2016, Lee Wallace played an integral role as Rangers sealed promotion to the top flight.
A captain who lead by example during the club’s spell in the lower divisions, a consummate professional on and off the pitch and a proven talent in his position. Wallace, like a few of his team-mates, has looked suspect on the odd occasion, however there is no doubting his leadership has been crucial. Without his experience and consistency at the back, it’s hard to imagine Rangers currently sitting in second place in the table.
The left-back also scored 9 goals in 50 games last season, before picking up the PFA Scotland Championship Player of the Year in May.
Wallace will have his doubters but he unquestionably made his mark in 2016 and could be even higher in our list if he’d been accompanied by stronger defenders in the Gers’ rearguard.

What They Said
“Good end to the season and, despite finding it tough in times in the Premiership, has shown some of his best form.”

“Without question, the biggest compliment you can pay Lee Wallace is that he’ll be remembered as a modern Rangers legend. His leadership and undoubted ability have been sorely underrated over the last several years.”
