As years go, Kieran Tierney might not have any better..
That’s because in the space of 12 months he’s managed to solidify his place as Celtic’s first-choice left-back, become a fans’ favourite to the Hoops faithful, get a new five-year contract, earn a Scotland cap and be linked with big money moves to the likes of Bayern Munich and Arsenal. The only bad point was the defender picking up an ankle ligament injury in training at the end of October to end his 2016. But we were prepared to ignore that when thinking about everything he crammed into the first 10 months of the year.
Emilio Izaguirre stood in the way of Tierney when he first entered the top team at Parkhead, but he was quickly promoted to the starting XI by Ronny Deila and has never looked back. At just 18, he was playing in some huge fixtures for Celtic and more than holding his own – ending last season as a player on the cusp of cult status with the supporters and beginning this campaign with Brendan Rodgers as his number one fan.
He’s had some Scotland caps this year too and recent speculation that he could be on his way to Bayern or Arsenal has only added to the talk around arguably the country’s best young prospect. He’s got the world at his feet at Parkhead and could have even found himself in the top one or two of the list had he not suffered that injury.
At number three, there’s absolutely no doubt Tierney deserves his spot on the Mc25.

What They Said
“Superb talent. Would be even higher were it not for the injury.”
