Ramon Vega Raves About Celtic on Sky Sports’ Fantasy Football Club Show

Ramon Vega only spent half a season on loan at Celtic – but he still talks about how special his time was at the club.

The Swiss defender found himself out of favour at Tottenham back in December 2000 and joined the Hoops on a short six-month loan in a bid to regain fitness and form.

And that’s exactly what he did, playing 26 times for the Hoops, scoring four goals and helping Martin O’Neill’s men to a treble in the 2000/2001 season.

Vega made a big impact, but actually refused to stay permanently at Celtic and instead moved to Watford before ending his career at Italian minnows Creteil.

The former Spurs man has spoken before about regretting the decision to leave Parkhead and he’s followed that up by praising the club some more as he appeared on Sky Sports’ Fantasy Football Club show last night.

Joining Max Rushden, Rachel Riley and Paul Merson, Vega spoke quickly about the impact Celtic had on him in that short time and implored any player to take the chance of moving to the club if the opportunity presented itself in the future:

Some Celtic fans may still hold a grudge against Vega for his decision to reject them back in 2001, but they’ll also love to hear his comments.

In this week’s show, Daniel is joined by team members Jonny Boyle, Connor Boylan and Scott MacArthur as they bring you a Mc25 special.

We released our list of the top 25 players in Scotland over 2016 on Monday and followed it up with this comprehensive podcast to discuss who we selected, where we selected them and why we selected them:
