The Spaniard was due to be on loan at Granada from the Gunners until the end of the season, but that’s now been ended after he found it difficult to get a regular game in the La Liga outfit’s midfield.
Reports have been linking him with a new loan move to Rangers since the start of the January transfer window and the move appeared closer when Wenger confirmed that the club was working on getting him to Ibrox.
And now that has taken a step closer after Granada confirmed that his loan with them has been terminated – opening the door for him to join up with Rangers at least until the end of the season.
Granada wrote this morning on their official website:
“Granada CF wants to wish the best of luck to a player who always defended with absolute professionalism and who scored a beautiful goal against Osasuna in this season’s Copa del Rey.”
That’s the news Rangers fans would have been hoping to hear – as it now appears that there are no further barriers to making the move.
If he joins up with Mark Warburton’s Ibrox squad, he’ll follow Bournemouth midfielder Emerson Hyndman in being added in this transfer window.
The Cherries man has joined on a loan deal until the end of the season and you’d expect him to feature prominently between now and then.
