In case you’re not up to speed, Matip was withdrawn from Liverpool’s draw with Manchester United at the last minute on Sunday over fears he could be banned by FIFA for playing a club match whilst his national side, Cameroon, take part in the African Cup of Nations.
Matip hasn’t played for his country since 2015, and has vocalised his desire to miss the tournament, but the Cameroon FA have yet to issue him clearance to continue playing at club level.
Given the fact that Matip was one of the Reds’ most impressive performers this season up until now, you can understand why Klopp would be keen to get him back in his side, and the German seemed frustrated as he met the media this afternoon:

Liverpool take on Plymouth in their FA Cup third round replay tomorrow night and we wouldn’t be expecting Matip to be in the squad.
What do you think of the situation?
