Charlie Mulgrew scored a lovely free-kick for Blackburn against Newcastle this afternoon.
The Rovers defender has been an important player for Owen Coyle’s team since signing for them on the final day of the summer transfer window.
He got his first goal for the club against Newcastle in November, volleying home to give his side a big 1-0 victory at St James’ Park.
And Mulgrew has followed that up by firing home another – which handed his side another big 1-0 win.
Stepping over a free-kick with 74 minutes on the clock, Mulgrew brilliantly bent a low free-kick beyond Toon Army goalie Karl Darlow:
Mulgrew went on to get the man of the match award from Sky Sports, who covered the game on Bank Holiday Monday.
The win is a big boost to Blackburn’s bid for safety in the Championship. They sit 22nd in the table, just one point off the safety of 21st.
But it should breed a lot of confidence considering Newcastle are challenging at the top of the division under Rafa Benitez.
