The Arsenal midfielder only returned early from a season-long loan spell with Granada earlier this week, but he’s now been unveiled as a Rangers player after moving temporarily to the Ibrox club.
He should go straight into Mark Warburton’s squad for their next game against Motherwell – and plenty will be expected from fans who are excited about the Spaniard.
Toral spoke at his press conference at Ibrox today and told how his fellow countryman and former Arsenal team-mate Arteta helped sell him on a switch to Rangers.
Arteta had a two-year stay at Ibrox before embarking on a successful English career with Everton and Arsenal so he knows plenty about the club.
Toral, via Rangers’ YouTube channel, said: “I know Gedion had a great time here so that was in my mind.
“I spoke to Mikel Arteta as well – he said I’d enjoy my time here and that helped me take the decision.
“He told me how big the club is, how well I’d be here and it’s good to know from players who have been here. It’s good for me to get that advice and it’s helped me making the decision.”
Arteta made 68 appearances for Rangers, scoring 14 goals and helping the club to a league title and a League Cup trophy.
Gers fans will be hoping their next Spanish signing can bring them success on the pitch after a difficult first half of the season.
