Walsall Fans Rave About Eoghan O’Connell After He Scores and Gets MotM

Walsall fans are raving about Eoghan O’Connell after he scored a stunner and got man of the match in just his second game for the club.

The Irish defender joined the English League One outfit at the start of the month on a loan deal which will last until the end of the season.

He made seven appearances for Celtic in the first half of the season, but found himself unable to get a game in front of Jozo Simunovic, Erik Sviatchenko or Kolo Toure at the heart of Brendan Rodgers’ defence.

But O’Connell is just 21 – and the Hoops definitely have high hopes for him so the loan to Walsall is simply to give him more first team football.

As for the Saddlers, they’ll hope O’Connell can help them climb the table and sneak a playoff place come the end of the season.

And he’s got off to a decent start, scoring and producing a man of the match performance in today’s 3-1 win over Bristol Rovers – just his second game for the club.

According to the club’s Twitter account, his goal was pretty special:

Fans of the club have been praising him ever since, taking to Twitter to share their delight with O’Connell:

And the man of the match award just topped off a very good day for O’Connell:
