Arsenal Legend David Seaman Defends Petr Cech But Says Joe Hart Would Be a Great Signing

David Seaman has been left baffled by suggestions that Arsenal may look to sell Petr Cech this summer, following a mistake he made vs Chelsea last week.

However, the former England international also admits that if Cech were to leave the Emirates at the end of the season, Arsenal could do a lot worse than to replace him with Manchester City reject, Joe Hart.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Seaman claimed Cech was still a top goalkeeper despite his costly mistake against his former side on Saturday.

“It is a surprise. For me, this season he has been really consistent. He has had made some big saves.”

He added, “You look at the goals people are questioning and I don’t see a lot wrong.”

Yet, if Joe Hart was to be made available, Seaman believes Arsenal should jump at the chance to sign the experienced shot-stopper.

“I think a lot of clubs will go for Joe because he is a quality goalkeeper and it was a massive shock in the summer when he left Manchester City.”

“If the situation arises where Arsenal are looking for a goalkeeper then I can’t see a better replacement than Joe Hart.”

Seaman made over 400 appearances for the Gunners, winning three league titles and four FA Cups.
