Derek McInnes Gives a Rather Boring Response to Rangers Queries

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has given his thoughts on being linked to the Rangers job – but, sadly, it’s not much to write home about.

The Dons gaffer has been strongly linked to the Ibrox hot-seat following Mark Warburton’s controversial departure last weekend, given his past as a Rangers player and one of Scotland’s most prominent football managers.

Aberdeen would certainly require a hefty fee in compensation, and it remains to be seen whether McInnes could be tempted to Ibrox with promises over budgets and wages, but, speaking to the media this afternoon, he seems keen to distance himself from any rumours in the meantime:

McInnes and his assistant Tony Docherty have contracts at Pittodrie up until the end of the 2018/2019 season, and wasn’t seriously in the running for the Ibrox post when Warburton was appointed in 2015.

Do you think he could be tempted to take on the mammoth task of restoring Rangers to their former glories?
