Jordan Rhodes sealed a loan move to Sheffield Wednesday during the January transfer window, leaving most Boro fans wondering if they will ever see the striker play for Aitor Karanka again.
And despite hitting the ground running for the Owls, scoring during Wednesday’s 3-0 victory over Birmingham, Rhodes still has time for the fans at the Riverside.
So much so in fact, that the Scottish forward has penned an emotional letter to one young fan, Oliver, who he’s backed to be the Premier League side’s next number nine.
Rhodes thanked Oliver for his letter, admitting it, “made me smile at a time when I was quite sad at Middlesbrough” and that he was “quite frustrated” at his lack of playing time:
What a guy Jordan Rhodes is! Oliver wrote to him while he was at Boro and this arrived today. He's over the moon. Thank u good luck [email protected] pic.twitter.com/fsFoxxqDr8

It’s understood that Rhodes will complete a £10 million move to Hillsbrough at the end of the season, after making just six appearances for Boro on their return to the Premier League.
