Real Betis Unveil Their Celtic-Inspired Kit to Celebrate ‘Andalusian Day’

La Liga side Real Betis have unveiled the kit their players will be wearing to mark Andalusian Day – and it’s been inspired by Scottish champions Celtic.

A few days ago we brought you the news that Betis would be looking to pay homage to their origins on 28 February when they face Malaga.

In an insane bit of trivia knowledge, (brought to our attention by fan website Real Betis Balompie) one of Betis’s co-founders returned from a business trip in Glasgow in 1912 with a set of green and black striped shirts, donated by Celtic F.C.

The owners of the Spanish side were so impressed by Celtic’s gesture that they adopted the club’s colours, however they made the green and white hoops into vertical stripes to give them their own sense of identity.

But in 12 days time, Betis will salute their Glasgow-based routes by wearing a Celtic-inspired hooped kit, which they revealed via their Twitter account this afternoon:

Betis occupy 13th spot in the La Liga table, and will surely be looking to channel the type of form Celtic have shown this season, as Brendan Rodgers’ team are currently on a 19-game unbeaten streak in the Scottish Premiership.
