Mark McGhee has been sacked by Motherwell – and the majority of Scottish football fans seem happy at the news.
But the results for the team haven’t been positive either, with Motherwell sitting 10th in the Premiership table and out of both cups after winning just two of their last 14 games.
Their recent run of four defeats on the bounce has seen them ship 17 goals, with a 7-2 loss to Aberdeen and a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Dundee at the weekend the worst of that.
And now Motherwell have decided that he’s no longer the right man for the job, sacking him after 16 months at the club.
McGhee has faced a lot of criticism from fans as a result of his bizarre antics recently and those same supporters appear happy that he’s been binned by the Steelmen:
There are some fans sympathetic to McGhee losing his job, but they’re silenced by the outpouring of delight at the news – which is odd in a way considering it’s simply a man going out of employment.
Well now have Stephen Robinson in caretaker charge of the first team while they look at a new manager who can improve performances and results to take them up the league table.
