Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli has been sent off for a horrendous tackle in tonight’s Europa League match against Gent at Wembley.
Alli was given his marching orders after a wild lunge on Brecht Dejaegere, which could easily have been mistaken for a finishing move in a video game.
The Spurs star was clearly frustrated after a Gent player nicked the ball from him just outside the penalty area – leaving Alli on his backside and protesting that he wanted a free-kick.
After the referee ignored the England international’s request to call a foul, Alli jumped to his feet and tried to win possession back for his team.
However, Alli completely lost his cool and went on to execute one of the most dangerous looking tackles you’re likely to see.
If you’re ever tempted to look up the popular phrase ‘a potential career-ending tackle’, this is exactly the example that you would find:

Luckily for Alli, Spurs have made it to half-time at 1-1, with Christian Eriksen giving the home side the lead in the first 15 minutes, only for Spurs striker Harry Kane to glance the ball past his own keeper to equalise.
Tottenham currently trail 2-1 on aggregate after Gent won the first leg 1-0.
