Former Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Emmanuel Petit believes Antoine Griezmann will “definitely” go to Manchester United this summer and claims the club would be getting a bargain if they signed the Frenchman.
Petit was appearing on Soccer AM’s Snapchat Takeover this week, when he was asked about the Atletico Madrid star’s future and if he could see him moving to Old Trafford.
And the World Cup winner believes Griezmann’s friendship with Paul Pogba could be crucial in the 25-year-old’s decision to leave La Liga for the Premier League.
Petit said, “I think he will come to Manchester United, definitely. He has a great partnership with Pogba in the national team and they are very good friends as well.”
Petit spent six years in the Premier League, three with Arsenal and three with Chelsea and he believes United would be getting a bargain if they signed Griezmann this summer due to his ability to improve:
“He will bring goals, assists but his winning mentality as well. Griezmann for the last four years has improved, step by step, every single year he has improved.”
“He’s got big ambitions personally but as well with the team he’s playing for. For me it would be a big bargain for Manchester United if they sign him.”
Griezmann showed his credentials last night as he scored in Atletico’s 4-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
