Leicester City have looked like the team which tore the Premier League to shreds last season against Liverpool tonight – which has prompted everybody on social media to give them a tonne of criticism.
Jamie Vardy and his team-mates are playing in the first match since manager Claudio Ranieri was sacked, with Craig Shakespeare – who is among the names to get the job permanently with the price per head sportsbook – in caretaker charge.
It was just nine months ago that the Italian manager leading the club to Premier League glory against all the odds. But now he’s out of a job and the club are left looking for a replacement who can achieve safety with the Foxes.
Under Ranieri, Vardy looked like a busted flush, and incapable of summoning the remarkable performances which saw him score 24 goals last season.

But he looked like his old self this evening, and calmly slotted home from close range to put the Foxes ahead against Jurgen Klopp’s Reds, before Danny Drinkwater made it 2-0 before half-time with a stunning volley.
That was Vardy’s first goal in the league since September, and only his eighth in all competitions for the club this season, whilst Drinkwater was chipping in with only his first.
Why couldn’t he have played like this for Claudio? Where was all of this at the back end of 2016? A lot of punters was serious answers:
Loads of passion from Vardy. Shame the snide cunt couldn't do it for Claudio.

@BBCMOTD it's an insult that the same players, Vardy particularly, did not try so hard for Raneiri of late.

Leicester have now taken a two-goal lead thanks to captain Danny Drinkwater’s stunning volley from the edge of the box.
If the Foxes can hold on and get a big three points, it will lift them out of the Premier League relegation places and give them a welcome boost after a controversial week at the club.
Vardy and his team-mates will still take stick regardless – but should they?
