Kompany jumped at the chance to get into the review booth and was even sporting a New England Patriots jersey ahead of of Super Bowl LI on Sunday – which will see the Patriots face the Atlanta Falcons.
The Belgian international watched several of the most earth-shattering tackles from this season in the NFL – including the massive hit on Cole Beasley vs the Green Bay Packers.
Kompany was impressed with both the technique on offer… and the commentators use of the word “seperated” when describing Jonathan Bostic’s hit on Mike Willie.
As well as taking a closer look at the defensive side of the ball, the 30-year-old also had the opportunity to analyse some of the best plays on offense.
But it seems Kompany has defence in his blood as he claims, “the bigger the hits the better… I wish there was more of it in football sometimes.”
Kompany made his return from a lengthy injury layoff against Crystal Palace last week, with Pep Guardiola admitting he is delighted at the prospect of having his best defensive player back in the fold.
