Tonight, Saturday 25th March we have a massive night of world championship boxing in Manchester.
The undercard is packed, the arena shall be packed and full voice should roar on some spectacular wins – if they and we are lucky!
Light heavyweight Hosea Burton returns with Tamas Kozma in the other corner. This should be a Burton win and we hope with some panache.
The hotly anticipated return of the sensational boxer that is lightweight Katie Taylor has her facing Milena Koleva. Again, we are not anticipating much by way of resistance to this Celtic Warrior; the question after may be – when is the world title tight?
Middleweight action is taken care of with the WBC international silver belt the prize between Marcus Morrison and Jason Welborn. This is a tough call but I do think Morrison has the momentum to carry him through.
The super featherweight fight for the WBC international belt and British title between Martin Joseph Ward and Maxi Hughes is another close call and I am going for Ward. Rest assured though that both of these fights ought to be absolute crackers and we should have our appetites ready for what follows them.
What does follow is another grudge match that nearly sparked off at the weigh in. Brian Rose takes on Jack Arnfield at middleweight and much though I love Rose – and I think he has been a fantastic fighter, old father time may just catch him out tonight.
It leaves a mouth watering rematch between Anthony Crolla v Jorge Linares for the WBA, WBC and Ring Magazine lightweight crowns. Linares was unbelievable in the first fight. Crolla tired and was rocked in the 6th and from then struggled though Linares showed that he was an unbelievable boxer with combinations the like of which should be compulsory viewing for young kids. I think that Linares might just win it but I would not be too surprised if Crolla, considering what he has been through, pulls it off.
Over in Brandenburg, Germany, Tyron Zuege will take on Isaac Ekpo for the WBA and Global Boxing Union super middleweight title and many of our domestic boxers might fancy a shot at the winner considering who else are super middleweight title holders…
Meanwhile in Merthyr Tydfil we have 8 fights and in Worksop there are 7 fights
At the end of the week – Friday the 31st March. We have, in Aberdeen, action involving a super featherweight fight between Christine Frazer, a debutant and Lana Cooper, lightweight Arturs Selivanov and the debut of bantamweight Billy Stuart.
