Video: Costa Rica Fans Aren’t Too Happy With ‘Vulgar’ Emilio Izaguirre

Emilio Izaguirre isn’t too popular with football fans in Costa Rica this afternoon after putting in a full-blooded display for Honduras in both sides’ 2018 World Cup qualifier last night.

The Celtic left-back and his Honduran colleagues hosted Cristian Gamboa and Costa Rica in the city of  San Pedro Sula, with both teams sharing an end-to-end 1-1 draw, leaving both nations still with an opportunity to reach the competition in Russia next year.

However, despite playing against a club-mate in a fixture without any needle, Izaguirre appeared to anger a number of Costa Rican fans with his tough tackling and no-nonsense approach, judging by some of the comments on social media.

Our Spanish isn’t too great, but it doesn’t take a genius to work out some of these translations:

Optimized-Izzy

We haven’t sat through a full tape of the game, but if the Costa Ricans are taken aback by the aggression in Izaguirre’s tackles, what on Earth will they think when they see Kieran Tierney playing?

What do you think of their complaints?
