Everton Fans Slaughter Martin O’Neill and Ireland After James McCarthy Injury

Everton fans are slaughtering Martin O’Neill and Ireland after James McCarthy picked up an injury before his country’s game with Wales tonight.

The Toffees were hit with the news that their midfielder had been removed from the starting XI shortly before kick-off due to a hamstring knock that had been mentioned a lot in the build-up.

Ronald Koeman criticised Ireland for their decision to call him up in the first place, leading to O’Neill to hit back, saying the Dutchman was ‘bleating on’ about it and it’s always McCarthy’s decision on his fitness.

But this latest news shouldn’t sit well at Goodison Park.

And fans are well aware of that – criticising O’Neill and Ireland’s decision to name a clearly unfit McCarthy in their team to play Wales.

Here’s just some of the frustrated reaction on Twitter:

Everton fans – are you angry at Ireland? Should O’Neill or McCarthy take the blame?
