Fans Share Relief On Twitter After Atletico Madrid’s Fernando Torres Is Released From Hospital

Football fans have taken to Twitter to share their relief after Fernando Torres was released from hospital.

The Atletico Madrid striker suffered a horror head knock after a clash with Deportivo La Coruna’s Alex Bergantinos.

Knocked out

Torres was knocked unconscious after the aerial challenge before being stretchered off in the 85th minute of the 1-1 draw.

It led to some distressing scenes on the pitch as team-mates and opponents rushed to his aid before medics raced to take over.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea forward spent the night on hospital before being released this morning and told to rest for 48 hours.

Atletico confirmed scans showed he has “no traumatic alterations or injuries” and will need to rest for 48 hours.

Torres said: “Thank you all for caring for me. It was only a scare.”

The club tweeted a picture of Torres giving a thumbs up ahead of his release.

And the football world have sent their well wishes to the 32-year-old Spaniard as he begins his recovery.

The draw leaves Atletico still sitting off the pace in the La Liga table.

The currently sit in fourth spot, nine points off third place Sevilla.

They return to action when they take on Valencia at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday.
