Money may see the money in a superfight with Conor McGregor.
Mayweather was at an event for FightHype, during which he made the following statement to the assembled crowd:
“Today, I’m officially out of retirement for Conor McGregor. We don’t need to waste no time. We need to make this shit happen quickly. Let’s get it on in June.”
McGregor has been hyping the fight for months on end, while Mayweather has spoken in rather vague terms or has outright refused to fight McGregor for the sum of money the UFC is offering the undefeated welterweight legend to fight with their blessing and, presumably, for a slice of the pie.
But now it seems that the greatest boxer of the 21st century is ready to go full bore into a boxing ring with his colorful Irish foe.
Time will tell if the UFC will allow McGregor to fight in a boxing ring, and furthermore if an American commission in any state will allow an MMA fighter with no professional boxing experience to fight an undefeated lineal boxing champion.
Stay tuned, it’s getting interesting.
