Benzema was dropped by Didier Deschamps following the Mathieu Valbuena blackmail scandal and is yet to receive a recall, despite being lauded by Madrid president Florentino Perez as the best striker on the planet.
However, Arsenal forward Giroud had flourished in Benzema’s absence, scoring twice during Les Bleus’ victory over Luxembourg on Saturday.
And while most players would relish seeing their countryman do well at international level, Benzema appeared to fire a shot at Giroud via Instagram today.
Benzema avoided a direct confrontation with the 30-year-old, however, he liked a picture posted by an Instagram account which implied the former Lyon striker was superior to Giroud due to the silverware he has collected:
Does Benzema have a point?
Or should he do his talking on the pitch, rather than indirectly mocking players who are picked ahead of him?
