Jamie Carragher Doesn’t Take Kindly to Danny Simpson Calling Him Out on Wearing Everton Kit

Jamie Carragher hasn’t taken kindly to Danny Simpson calling him out on wearing an Everton training kit.

The Liverpool legend was yesterday pictured wearing the gear as he filmed a promo with the club ahead of one of their upcoming games.

As expected, he took some stick from fans – but the majority realise there’s no doubting his support for the Anfield club and that sometimes the job requires you to do things you wouldn’t normally do.

Yet Leicester full-back Simpson has emerged as a surprise critic just days after Carragher was critical of his side’s performance in the 3-1 win over Liverpool on Monday night.

That result came in the first game after the shock sacking of Claudio Ranieri, with Simpson part of a Leicester team that looked more like Premier League champions of last season than relegation battlers of this one.

So perhaps Simpson took exception to Carragher’s comments saying he and his team-mates should ‘hang their head in shame’.

After seeing the pictures of Carra in an Everton kit, Simpson got in touch with his former Manchester United team-mate Gary Neville to have a pop:

Neville was quick to pick up on the tweet, adding to the abuse of his fellow Sky Sports pundit:

Then came Carragher – making another reference to the change in performance from the Leicester players just days after their manager had been cruelly sacked:

At first we weren’t sure if Simpson had Carragher’s comments in the back of his mind when he sent the tweet.

But this comment confirms that was the case:

And then came another Carragher response – which we thought was surprisingly tame for his standards:

But we didn’t have to wait long on Carragher taking things up a notch:

He’s referring to reports last week that several Leicester stars were consulted by the club’s owners over the sacking of Ranieri.

But Simpson wasn’t in the mood to give answers:

This is in danger of getting boring now:

Simpson did respond again, but not to answer Carragher’s Seville question – simply to show he is a Premier League winner:

But Carragher won’t drop the story about the Leicester players reportedly stabbing Ranieri in the back:

And here’s Neville just sitting back and enjoying the madness:

No doubt there will be more to this Twitter exchange throughout the day so we’ll update you as and when it happens.
