Jamie Carragher Jokes About Taking Credit For Romelu Lukaku Rejecting Everton Deal

Jamie Carragher has jokingly claimed credit for Romelu Lukaku reportedly rejecting a new contract at Everton.

The big news coming from Merseyside today involves the Goodison Park club and their star striker’s future.

According to liverpoolecho.co.uk, the Belgian hitman – who has scored 20 goals this season – has knocked back the offer of a lucrative new five-year contract with the club.

Lukaku has regularly spoken about his desire to play for a bigger club, but appeared happier under Ronald Koeman this season as the Toffees try their best to sneak into the European places.

Yet he’s apparently rejected the new contract and appears set to leave the club in the near future ahead of his contract expiring two years from now.

No one knows why Lukaku has decided to do that – but Carragher joked that he had an idea after the news broke earlier:

The Liverpool legend then went on to retweet this post from a fan:

Of course, Carra isn’t to blame for Lukaku’s decision – he’s simply making a joke after visiting Everton’s training ground recently, throwing on the club’s training kit and filming something with Lukaku.

It’s a setback for Everton, but a big boost for their rivals if Lukaku was to leave the club any time soon.

He’s been a standout performer this season and, with 10 games remaining, he’ll fancy his chances of breaking the 30-goal mark before the summer.
