Jamie Carragher Takes a Swipe at Steven Gerrard’s Beard After Being Called Vain

Jamie Carragher isn’t the sort to let you have a pop at him and then walk away empty handed, as he showed today after Steven Gerrard had a go at the ex-Liverpool defender.

Liverpool legends including Gerrard, Steve McManaman and Michael Owen were all interviewed by NIVEA prior to their match against Real Madrid’s legends on Saturday.

As the game’s official sponsor, NIVEA looked to get Gerrard and co. to dish the dirt on their former teammates, with glorious results.

When asked who was the most vain player he had lined up alongside, Gerrard shamed former teammate John Arne Riise.

However, given Carragher’s success on Monday Night Football and his transition from football hard-man to glitzy celebrity pundit, Gerrard equally pointed the finger at the 39-year-old.

And Carragher didn’t take the criticism very well, responding to Gerrard’s comments on Twitter by mocking the beard the former England skipper tried to grow during his playing days:

Gerrard and Carragher played 383 times together in the Premier League – a record between teammates.
