Man Utd Fans React as Jose Mourinho Says He’d Never Have Sold This Trio

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho claims if he’d been in charge at Old Trafford at the time, he’d never have let Angel Di Maria, Danny Welbeck or Javier Hernandez leave the club.

Danny Welbeck was the first of the trio to depart, signing for Arsenal for £16 million in September 2014 – quickly becoming a fan favourite despite his injury issues.

Di Maria was the next player who was allowed to leave, as he signed with PSG one season after arriving for £59.7 million.

And Hernandez, known as Chicharito, was the last to leave as he was first sent on loan to Real Madrid in 2014 and then completed a permanent move to Bayer Leverkusen the following year.

Mourinho has criticised Louis Van Gaal for allowing all three to sign for other clubs, claiming he would have never allowed it to happen.

The 54-year-old told Gary Lineker of The Premier League Show, “Manchester United sold players that I would never sell and bought players that I would never buy.”

Lineker then proceeded to ask the former Chelsea boss which players he was referring to.

“I would never have sold Di Maria, Chicharito, Danny Welbeck…never… no chance.”

Not that Mourinho is exactly struggling for attacking talent with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Wayne Rooney, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

United fans were quick to react to Mourinho’s comments:

Should LVG have done more to keep the three at Old Trafford?
