Palatine High School (Palatine, Illinois) class of 2018 defensive end Bryant Smith picked up his first scholarship offer last month from Wyoming, and he expects his recruitment to pick up even more in the coming future.
Grateful to have received my first Division 1 offer from the University of Wyoming! ?? #CowboyUp18 pic.twitter.com/rQ6gr4sl09

“[Safties] Coach [Jacob] Dickert contacted me asking if I could call and talk to him. I called him and we talked about my life and life in Wyoming. After that, he said they would be offering me a scholarship,” said Smith.
Smith told me that before the call, he had received mail from the program, but nothing outside of that.
In addition to the Cowboys, Smith has recently been in contact with Syracuse, Princeton, Western Illinois, Penn, and Denison University.
The 6’5,” 215-pound pound Smith joins a plethora of other Illinois high school recruits that are being targeted by Wyoming, as so far they have extended offers to a total of eleven Land of Lincoln prospects. In their 2017 recruiting class, the Cowboys’ Illinois pipeline sucked up six prospects, including St. Rita’s Tim Zaleski and River Forest’s Keyon Blankenbaker and Jared Scott.
Lake Park (Roselle, Illinois) defensive end Perrion Winfrey also recently added his first offer from Wyoming.
Smith, who is currently not rated by any of the major recruiting services said he does not have any teammates or friends who have been in contact with Wyoming.
Smith does plan on remaining busy during the offseason camp circuit, as he plans on attending Princeton and UPenn’s Junior Day, one of Northwestern’s summer camps, and Nike’s The Opening Regionals event on April 2 at Halas Hall. He also hopes to visit Wyoming’s Laramie campus and others’ camps during the summer, including possibly showing up to Lake Forest College’s football camp on June 10, in which the entire Wyoming staff will attend.
Was there anything else Smith wanted to say?
“Just want to thank Coach Dickert and the rest of the Wyoming staff for the opportunity they have given me.”
