Tom Heaton Claims Joey Barton is the “Teacher’s Pet” at Burnley

Despite his bad-boy image and most recently for making waves during his short-stint at Rangers, Tom Heaton claims Joey Barton is the teacher’s pet at Burnley.

Barton has been surrounded by controversy for what seems like his entire playing career, whether it’s for flapping his gums or for his infamous bust-ups with Gervinho and Sergio Aguero.

However, Barton may be a reformed character since returning to Burnley this season, with Clarets goalkeeper Heaton giving the midfielder the prize for the biggest teacher’s pet on Soccer AM.

Perhaps Heaton is being sarcastic, or maybe Barton just gets along with Sean Dyche a hell of a lot better than his previous managers.

When asked what player sucks up to Dyche the most, Heaton replied, “I’m going to say Joey.

“The lads give him a bit of grief for chewing the manager’s ear off, you know Joey loves to talk.”

The former Manchester United stopper added, “The manager is usually on the end of it, whether he feels like he has to listen to him, I don’t know.”

Barton has made 12 appearances for Burnley since re-signing for the club after Rangers terminated his contract in November.
