Twitter isn’t Taking the News of Jeff Stelling’s Potential Retirement Very Well

Gillette Soccer Saturday host Jeff Stelling is reportedly considering retiring from broadcasting at the end of the season… and the news hasn’t went down well on Twitter.

Stelling has become a household name for anchoring Gillette Soccer Saturday, bringing fast-paced updates to football fans all across the country on Saturday afternoons.

And while most viewers would credit Stelling for being the heart and soul of the programme he was worked on since 1994, it appears the 62-year-old is contemplating walking away from the show.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Stelling said, “I don’t know how much longer I’ll do presenting. I’ve done it for 40 years.

“I am not sure how long it will go on for. I might want to put my feet up. I am getting on – the next decision will be retirement.”

And the thought of watching the show without Stelling’s presence alongside pundits Matt Le Tissier, Phil Thompson, Paul Merson and Charlie Nicholas, was simply too much to bear for the Twitter faithful:

Unbelievable Jeff!

Sky Sports simply won’t be the same place without him.
