A lot of Chicago Fire fans turned up O’Hare International Airport to welcome new signing Bastian Schweinsteiger yesterday.
The German legend last week signed a contract at the MLS club after failing to make an impact in Jose Mourinho’s first season at Manchester United.
His Old Trafford exit came less than two years after he was signed from Bayern Munich – but his next challenge is a big one to help Fire turn around their fortunes following a disappointing 2016 season which saw them finish bottom of the MLS rankings.
The Fire fans are certainly excited to sign Schweinsteiger as hundreds of them showed by turning up to the airport to welcome him yesterday.
He shared this picture alongside wife, and former tennis player, Ana Ivanovic as they got set to jet off to the US:

And this was the sight that greeted them upon entering O’Hare International as fans chanted his name and tried desperately to get autographs:

Fire play Montreal Impact on Saturday in their first MLS game after the international break and it’s expected that Schweinsteiger will go straight into the team for that match.
