Ofir Marciano is having a pretty awful night in Israel‘s game against Spain tonight.
The Hibs goalkeeper was selected in goal for his country’s World Cup qualifying clash against the Spanish at Estadio Municipal El Molinón.
Considering he comes up against sides like Dundee United, Ayr and Queen of the South in the Scottish Championship, facing one of the world’s best teams was probably pretty daunting.
And, unfortunately for Marciano, he’s not managed to shine in the game – conceding two soft goals as Spain raced into a 3-0 lead inside 50 minutes.
The first goal wasn’t really his fault, with Manchester City midfielder David Silva smashing between his legs to score.
But the second goal didn’t look good for Marciano as he was unable to keep out Vitolo’s shot:

Diego Costa added the third for Spain – and Marciano looks like he could have done better with the save:

That’s not the kind of performance Marciano would have been wanting on getting the number one shirt.
But at least he won’t need to play quality like Spain every week at Easter Road.
