The incident came in the 31st-minute of the match at Ibrox when Grant Gillespie appeared to pull Jon Toral back as he tried to shoot in the box.
Toral does go down in stages, but replays showed Gillespie’s arm on the Rangers man’s side and referee John Beaton immediately pointed to the spot.
Martyn Waghorn stepped up to slam home and give Rangers the lead at the break.
But did they deserve it? Take a look for yourself:

We asked the question on Twitter and the verdict, so far, is that Rangers are fortunate to be in the lead:
Should that have been a penalty?

Not that our discussion matters much. Rangers have the lead and look good value for it after dominating the first half in terms of possession and chances.
Winning would be a big boost for Graeme Murty and his men as it would set up a semi-final spot – continuing their pursuit of lifting the Cup after last season’s disappointment.
