Video: Tottenham Loanee Anton Walkes Scores Own Goal on MLS Debut

Not every Spurs defender enjoyed a positive weekend on the pitch after loanee Anton Walkes managed to put through his own net on his debut for temporary club Atlanta United.

The 20-year-old has moved State side for six months in the MLS with new expansion side Atalanta United, and the youngster was lucky enough to be handed his debut late in the match against New York Red Bulls on Sunday night, with the match evenly poised at 1-1.

However, with what was essentially his first meaningful first touch, Walkes failed to deal with the movement of Bradley Wright-Phillips, and was forced to knock the ball into his own net.

A sold-out crowd of around 55,000 packed in to watch Atlanta play their first match as a new MLS expansion team- meaning that, unfortunately, Walkes is the proud owner of an unfortunate piece of history.

Don’t worry, Anthony, the game kicked-off at nearly 1am UK time – we’re almost positive that MoPo wasn’t watching.
