Chelsea Accidentally Name Petr Cech in Starting Line-Up to Face Everton

Chelsea‘s social media team are apparently longing for a bygone era after the club’s Twitter account accidentally included Petr Cech in the starting XI to face Everton today.

The title-chasers travel to Merseyside to take on the Toffees in what many regard as their last major challenge of the season, and, as usually happens, the Blues tweeted out their line-up earlier this afternoon.

But some supporters were rather surprised to see that Thibaut Courtois had been replaced by the man who left for Arsenal back in 2015:

Of course, the tweet was quickly deleted, but not before thousands of fans had seen it and probably taken a screenshot.

A few had some questions for the Chelsea account:

Sadly for Chelsea supporters, it isn’t 2012, and Petr Cech – your Champions League winning hero – does in fact still play for Arsenal, and you can see him turning out against Tottenham Hotspur later today.

Wishful thinking, lads.
