Jose Mourinho‘s recent comments suggest that there may be interest from Manchester United in Victor Lindelof.
The Portuguese manager was last week asked about the Benfica defender by Swedish TV station Viasat and he was forthcoming in his praise.
Lindelof is a Sweden international who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford after impressing with Benfica over recent seasons.
It’s been all speculation previously, but Mourinho’s recent comments suggest that his club may be interested in signing Lindelof in the future.
Speaking last week, Mourinho, per Aftonbladet/sportwitness.co.uk, said: “Obviously. I know all the players in Portugal.”
He was then asked if he was impressed by Lindelof and answered: “Yes, he’s a good guy.”
It’s hardly rock solid confirmation from Mourinho, but hints that Lindelof interest could be there if United scouts deem him good enough to play for the club.
At 22, Lindelof is the perfect age for United and could offer them stability at a position they’ve struggled for consistency with this season.
Chris Smalling, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo have all played at centre back this season, but we’d be surprised if any had done enough to persuade Mourinho they are the first choice options.
