Jurgen Klopp’s Praise of Mamadou Sakho Should Give Liverpool Fans Hope

Jurgen Klopp‘s praise of Mamadou Sakho should give Liverpool fans hope he’ll play a part for the club in the future.

The German manager was today asked about the French defender ahead of his side’s clash with Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Sakho has been on loan at Palace since January and has been a big reason that they’ve managed to move out of the relegation places to sit 15th in the table with six games of the season remaining.

Liverpool’s defensive woes haven’t improved this term as they again failed to challenge for the Premier League title and have a real battle on to finish in the top four.

So seeing Sakho impress at Palace has Liverpool fans feeling like he could be making an impact for them had he not been frozen out by Klopp earlier in the season over issues with his attitude.

It remains to be seen whether or not he has a future at Anfield, but Klopp’s praise of Sakho today suggests he could play a part from the summer onwards:

Sakho’s contract at Liverpool ends in 2020 so he’s got plenty of time left to make his mark again if Klopp decides to forgive him for past indiscretions.

But if Klopp doesn’t then Liverpool should be able to command a big fee when they decide to sell him.
