Elijah Moscinski had a yearning time in Ypsilanti.
The Nazareth Academy (La Grange Park, Illinois) class of 2019 defensive lineman was invited to attend Eastern Michigan’s spring game last Saturday, and he confirmed he had a tremendous time on his visit.
“The whole experience was really great,” said Moscinski. “While I was waiting for it to start, I got to meet a player and I asked him about his life as a football player, which was really great to hear. The speeches from each person were very informative and I got to learn about EMU and what to look for in my recruiting experience. It was fun to be on the sidelines and watch the players warm up for the spring game.”
What was the mood like during the game, I asked. “The atmosphere was exciting! The fans including the alumni were cheering each side of the team on,” Moscinski responded. “You could see the brotherhood of the players on the field also.”
According to Moscinski, the Eagles hadn’t been in contact with him for very long before the game. “[My contact with them] Just started. They sent me an email about the spring game.”
Although their courtship of the bruising 6’5,” 310-pound incoming junior just commenced, they already rank high on Moscinski’s top schools list, as he told me they are in his top five.
He even feels a strong connection to their coaching staff, as he told me, “I liked the coaches, they were very informative and I also liked their team philosophy.” Which coaches did he talk to? “I talked to a coach before the game and after the game got to talk to [Cornerbacks] Coach [Fred] Reed, the recruiting coach from my area.”
While he didn’t reveal what his top five exactly looked like, he certainly doesn’t have a shortage of suitors. “I received a lot of camp invites coming from Florida State, Eastern Michigan, Northern Arizona, Michigan State, and Norte Dame,” He later added, “I plan on attending the EMU, Tennessee, and Florida State camps this summer.”
Eastern Michigan currently has one commitment from the class of 2018, coming from unranked Cass Tech (Detroit, MI) quarterback Aaron Jackson, who announced the news last week. EMU’s 2018 class is ranked 89th in the country and eighth in the Mid-American Conference.
According to 247Sports.com, the Eagles have offered at least five members of the class of 2019, including four-star Belleville HS (Bellville, MI) OT Devontae Dobbs, unranked Martin Luther King HS (Detroit, MI) linebacker Tyrece Woods, four-star Springfield HS (Springfield, OH) CB Moses Douglass, as well as unranked corners Xavier Goldsmith (Cass Tech, Detroit, MI) and Corry Thomas (River Rouge HS, River Rouge, MI).
Don’t expect Moscinski’s name to disappear from the headlines, because in his mind, he’s, “Just beginning the recruiting process.”
