Inverness Caley Thistle saw their hopes of staying in the Scottish Premiership hit the rocks tonight – after a brutal howler from their own keeper Ryan Esson.
The Highlanders went into their vital clash against local rivals Ross County knowing that nothing short of a win would realistically keep alive their hopes of staving off relegation, but they were behind to a Liam Boyce goal after just 21 minutes.
The goal was Boyce’s 18th goal of the season, but he had more than a little bit of help from Esson:

Obviously, these things can happen in football, but Inverness boss Richie Foran is probably wondering just what on Earth is about to go wrong next this season.
Boyce added a second 10 minutes later, and a defeat for Inverness means Dundee will have the opportunity to move a sizeable eight points clear of the automatic relegation spot.
If they are to go down, Esson’s blunder might prove to be the final nail in the coffin.
