The Leicester City striker was feeding off scraps during the first leg of the teams’ Champions League quarter-final first-leg last week, and the first half of tonight’s rematch followed a similar theme, with Atletico the masters at keeping a clean sheet.
When Saul Niguez scored for the Spaniards to make it 2-0 on aggregate, it looked like the tie was over, but Vardy found his shooting boots just in tie to breathe new life into the contest.
It might not be the prettiest goal he’s ever scored, but the England international reacted brilliantly to Ben Chilwell’s deflected cross:

A full-scale comeback from the Premier League champions might be a bit too much to ask for, but European football’s elite competition will definitely be a poorer place without the Foxes.
