Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele has scored his first goal of the season to give his side a 1-0 lead against Bournemouth this afternoon.

Most of today’s media spotlight has fallen on Cherries star Jack Wilshere, who is on loan from Arsenal and is receiving a bit of stick from the home support at White Hart Lane.

However, it was a Spurs midfielder who has popped up with a goal, as Dembele capitalised on some slack defending from Eddie Howe’s side to score against Artur Boruc:

Dembele’s last goal for Spurs came in January 2016 and given his impressive performances in the heart of the club’s midfield this season, some would say the Belgium international was long overdue a goal.

Mauricio Pochetino’s side appear to be the only challengers to Chelsea in this year’s race for the Premier League title, with the Blues seven points clear at the top of the table.

However, if Spurs can take three points this afternoon, it will place the pressure firmly on Antonio Conte’s side to get a result against Manchester United tomorrow.
