Ray Wilkins believes Andy Halliday‘s tackle on Patrick Roberts was ‘bang out of order’.
The former Rangers midfielder was talking about the Scottish Cup semi-final between Celtic and his old club on Sky Sports News this morning ahead of the teams meeting again this weekend.
The Hoops won the game 2-0, overpowering a Gers team that struggled to match them on and off the ball.
Halliday’s early tackle on Roberts has generated a lot of discussion among supporters given the Rangers man wasn’t sent off by referee Willie Collum, who deemed it only a yellow card.
And Wilkins has added to the criticism of Halliday, stating his belief that it was a ‘bang out of order’ challenge on on-loan Manchester City winger Roberts:

Wilkins said: “Being a side that isn’t quite up to the standard of Celtic, they have to get into the faces of the Celtic players and make a few challenges.
“They did make a couple of challenges that were a bit bang out of order early on, especially one on Patrick Roberts.
“But the gulf between the footballing sides was huge.”
